PURPOSE: To prevent breakage and damage of a long material, by a method wherein the long materials, raised through lifting up of at least the one end of a pliable material, are supplied to a wheel, and a heavy weight is prevented from being exerted on the long material brought into contact with the wheel.

CONSTITUTION: The one wind-up roller 11 is rotated through driving of a motor 15 simultaneously with rotation of the other wind-up roller 11 through the medium of a chain 13, and the ends of a blet 10, made of a pliable material, are wound up. The belt 10 is raised in an U-shaped attitude, quantities of glass tubes (long materials) held in storage by the belt 10 suspended further down than a wheel 2 are lifted higher than the wheel 2. The glass tubes are dropped into notched parts 3 in the wheel 2 through rotation of the wheel 2, and are fed through a chute 4 to holders 6 of a conveyor 5. When, long with said feed, a quantity of the glass tubes located above the wheel 2 are decreased, the belt 10 is wound up through driving of the motor 15 until the glass tube is forced into contact with a detecting plate 19, and the aboves are repeated in the following.
