The sorting device for recording medium includes a plurality of reception sections which are used while coupled to an image forming apparatus forming an image on a recording medium and receive recording media output from a discharge section of the image forming apparatus, wherein the reception section disposed at a reception position corresponding to the discharge section is switched one after another each time an order that the recording media output from the discharge section are changed. Each reception section 81 is provided with an information display means 92 of displaying identification information specifying an order that a recording medium P' which is being output or already output to the reception section 81 belongs to.
