PURPOSE: To improve sound absorption characteristics in a low frequency range and to improve a blooming phenomenon suppressing function by using mixed powder of powder which provides large sound absorbing operation in a specific frequency range and power which is large in bulk density.

CONSTITUTION: The sound absorber 3 is made of the mixture of the powder which provides the large sound absorbing operation at specific frequency and the powder which is larger in bulk density than the powder. Namely, the powder (mixed powder) for the sound absorber is charged in a thin box body 2 which consists of a bottom plate 2a and side plates 2b and is open on one surface side, and the open side is closed with an acoustically transparent sheet 4 to obtain a panel shape. Consequently, the sound absorber 1 has a sound absorber 3 made consisting of the mixed powder charging layer. Therefore, the bulk density of the sound absorber 3 increases by a quantity corresponding to the combinational use of the powder which is high in bulk density, the frequency of the sound absorption peak decreases, and sound absorption characteristics in a lower frequency range are improved. Further, a blooming phenomenon is caused in a low frequency range, so the blooming phenomenon suppressing function is improved.
