Abstract:
PURPOSE:To integrally provide a sounding part and volume display part by constituting one of driving electrodes of sounding electrodes to which a sounding driving signal is supplied and plural display electrodes to which a display driving signal is supplied. CONSTITUTION:The driving electrode 3 is formed with the sounding electrodes 3a to 3c to which the sounding driving signal is supplied and the display electrodes 3d to 3f to which the display driving signal is supplied, alternately and symmetrically with a center. The driving electrode 4 is formed on the opposite surface of a substrate 2 over the entire surface and a ferroelectric liquid crystal 7 is sealed between the driving electrodes 3 and 4 via oriented layers 5, 6. The ferroelectric liquid crystal 7 oscillates to produce sounds when the sounding driving signal is applied to the sounding electrodes 3a to 3c. The display driving signal is applied to a number of the plural display electrodes 3d to 3f according to the volume thereof and is displayed in the form of a dropout or surprint according to the polarization directions of a pair of polarizing plates 9, 10. Both the sounding part and the volume display part are commonly obtd. by one layer of the ferroelectric liquid crystal in this way.
