To provide a sounding jar by water drops and a method for generating water drop sound of the sounding jar by water drops which enable only the falling sounds of water drops to be resonated, many and various kinds of rhythms and timbres of the water drop sound to be generated and the volume of the water necessary for forming the water drops to be easily adjusted.

The method for generating the water drop sounds of the sounding jar by water drops comprises; connecting a water bottle 10 to the bottom of a jar-like sounding jar body by water drops 1; submerging a pump 20 into the water stored in the water bottle 10; providing an aperture at the top surface of the sounding jar body by water drops 1 with a top plate 30 for water drop fall; providing an acoustic hole 2 formed in the side wall of the sounding jar body 1 with a trumpet-shaped sound volume magnifying sound tube 40; connecting the pump 20 to the apertures at the bottom end of a plurality of capillaries 25 for adjusting the quantities of water supply; positioning the apertures at the top ends of the capillaries 25 in capillary insertion/water drop fall holes 31 and feed water grooves 31 of the top plate 30 and water retaining members 34 laid at the top plate 30, and pouring the water drops from the apertures at the top ends of the capillaries 25 through the top plate 30 into the sounding jar body 1 by water drops, so that the water drop sounds striking the water stored in the sounding jar body 1 by water drops are released outside through the acoustic holes 11 of the sounding jar body 1 by water drops and the acoustic tubes 40.
