This spare tire carrier includes: a pair of front and rear cross members 21, 22 extending over two side rails 11, 12; a hoisting machine 23, the front and the rear of which are supported on both cross members to hoist a chain; and a downward wall part of both cross members having first tire engaging surfaces 21A, 22A on which a wheel disk surface of a spare tire abuts when the spare tire is engaged with a tire engaging member engaged with the tip of a chain 24 and the chain is hoisted. The carrier includes a pair of front and rear brackets 26, 27 coupled to the respective cross members to extend in the directions along the respective cross members, and the respective brackets are provided with second tire engaging surfaces 26A, 27A located below a first tire engaging surface in mounting and on which the wheel disk surface of the spare tire engaged with the tire engaging member abuts.
