Abstract:
To provide a spatial optical communication device that can automatically monitor a flying object and stop laser transmission.SOLUTION: A spatial optical communication device according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a transmission unit, a reception unit, a monitoring unit, a beam monitor, and a control unit. The transmission unit transmits a first laser beam to a spacecraft. The reception unit receives a second laser beam transmitted from the spacecraft. The monitoring unit monitors a flying object flying over the emission direction of the first laser beam. The beam monitor detects the emission direction from the transmission unit of the first laser beam. The control unit sets a first monitoring area that sections the surrounding of the first laser beam based on an output of the beam monitor, and when it is determined that the flying object has entered the first monitoring area based on an output of the monitoring unit, generates a control signal to stop transmission of the first laser beam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
