To provide a gripper for a surface mounting machine that can pickup special form parts and transfer them to a printed circuit board and then mount it on when the special form parts with different shapes are mounted on the printed circuit board.

The surface mounting machine for taking or putting the special form parts is composed of a holder that one end is located inside a socket part and that a penetration groove is formed for a passage of the air flowing in and out through the socket part, a piston that is equipped inside the penetration groove and moves up and down in vertical direction by the pressure of the air flowing in and out in the penetration groove, moving parts equipped at both side ends of the other end of the holder where slopes are formed to move horizontally close to each other or being apart by the piston moved up and down by the air coming in and out through the penetration groove, and several grippers that are fixed on the moving parts and take or put various form parts interlocked in accordance with the horizontal movement of the moving parts.
