PURPOSE: To make it possible to collect simply and quickly specimens of high accuracy by using a specimen collecting device movable over the pigging floor that is mounted on a truck and movable up and down.
CONSTITUTION: A specimen collecting device S is moved on a forehearth truck 16 from which specimens are collected, and made to stand by a pigging floor 15. When it is confirmed that the forehearth truck 16 is finished with receiving metal from the blast furnace, a probe 3 is attached to a weight 4, a clutch 10 is engaged, and an operation lever 12 is operated with a brake 11 released to operate a motor 9 and rotate a winding drum 8. A wire 6 is paid out, lowering the probe 3. When the probe 3 is put into the molten metal in the forehearth truck 16, the rotation of the drum 8 is stopped. When molten metal got into the probe, the lever 12 is operated to release the brake 11, and the wire 6 is wound up by the drum 8 to wind up the probe 3. Then the probe 3 is removed from the weight 4 for analysis.
