Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a metallic spectacle frame having an antique metallic surface excellent in various characteristics and full of variety by forming ruggednesses on the surface of the frame and forming a metallic compd. film in a recessed part in spots.

CONSTITUTION: A rugged surface 11 is formed on the surface of a spectacle frame 1 consisting of a lightweight Ti alloy material by hairline working. The rugged surface 11 is cleaned by washing, and then a Ti target is sputtered while reacting with CO2 gas to form a film 21 of TiC on the rugged surface 11. The film 21 has a deep oxidized silver color, the TiC film on the protrusion of the rugged surface 11 is removed by buffing, hence the base Ti alloy is exposed, the silver color characteristic of the Ti alloy is preferably mixed with the oxidized silver-colored TiC film 21, and an antique-looking beautiful spotted pattern is formed.
