The spectacles include a frame. Inside the frame, a lens group is provided. The lens group includes a liquid crystal lens and a concave lens 150 with a negative power. The liquid crystal lens is adapted to vary the power from 0 toward the positive by controlling the voltage application of a power supply circuit. The power supply circuit is controlled by a control circuit. The spectacles include a ranging mechanism for measuring a distance to an object observed at that time by a user. The control circuit controls the power supply circuit according to the distance to the object measured by the ranging mechanism, and the power supply circuit changes a potential difference applied to the liquid crystal lens. The resultant power of the lens group ranges from the positive to the negative.
