To provide a speed control circuit which can control an ultrasonic motor highly efficiently with a simple circuit.
A microcomputer 1 outputs voltage suited to control frequency corresponding to required rotational speed. Pulse control frequency is generated by a frequency generating circuit 2, and an a.c. signal whose phase is different 90 degrees is applied to an ultrasonic motor 4 by an amplifier circuit 3. The rotational speed is monitored, and a comparison is made between the actual measurements and the required values of rotational speed to correct control frequency in a control frequency range stored in a storage circuit. It is thus possible to reduce the construction of a system without determining the resonance frequency of the motor for each control or processing various factors with software calculation or the like.
