Title:
SPINNING IN MAGNETIC FIELD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5551807
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a raised sheet usable for artifical suede and grass and carpets, by applying a magnetic field to a fluidized high polymer material having spinability incorporated with particles sensitive to the field.

CONSTITUTION: The molten polymer 1 and the particles sensitive to magnetism are scattered on the base sheet 3, and particle movement control member 6, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene, is provided above the sheet 3. The magnetic field S is then applied to them by the magnet 4 to spin the fibers 5 with a uniform fiber length. The member 6 prevents broken polymer particles from adhering to the magnet 4, and the member 6 is readily separated from the particles by removing the magnet 4 with easy control of the fiber length. Fe, Ni, Co, iron family transition and rare earth metals, their compounds, and ferromagnetic compounds of the former comprising rare earth metals, may be cited as the particle materials.
