There is provided the spinning reel 10 in which a drive gear 50 pressed in the axial direction by the operation of a braking force adjuster 66 arranged on a handle shaft 36 is pressed on a braking plate 52 mounted on a support 48 of the handle shaft to impart a braking force to the drive gear, and made by fitting a radial direction-limiting circular member 52a to the outer periphery of the handle shaft between the support of the handle shaft and the bottom surface of the drive gear, disposing the frictional plate on the outside of the radial direction-limiting circular member, and forming the frictional plate in a larger thickness than that of the radial direction-limiting circular member.
