PURPOSE: To obtain a split leather soft in touch feeling, excellent in flexibility and closely resembling natural leather.
CONSTITUTION: This split leather 1 is obtained by providing a leather 2 subjected, in advance, to crease-flex treatment using e.g. a tumbler dryer with an urethane resin surface skin layer 3. The other objective method for producing this split leather 1 is made up of the following processes: the leather 2 is subjected to crease-flex treatment; the resultant leather 2 is provided with an urethane resin surface skin layer 3; an adhesive layer 5 is provided on the urethane resin surface skin layer 3 and/or leather 2; and the urethane resin surface skin layer 3 and the leather 2 are mutually laminated through the adhesive layer 3 in a monolithic way. It is preferable that the crease-flex treatment of the leather 2 be conducted by a rotatory means.
