PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of deposits in the lapse of time and the adhesion of stains onto a photosensitive material in continuous processing by incorporating at least one kind of water-soluble cellulose derivatives into the stabilization processing liquid.

CONSTITUTION: This stabilization processing liquid contains at least one kind of the water-soluble cellulose derivatives. This processing liquid has an effect of stabilizing the dyestuff image formed by color development or the silver image formed by black and white development (particularly an effect of preventing color fading by aging magenta dyestuff and an effect of preventing yellowing or browning changing with lapse of time in the silver image). The liquid is a stabilizing liquid for silver halide color photographic sensitive materials and an adjusting and stabilizing liquid for silver halide color reversal photographic sensitive materials. The stabilizing liquids used in a stabilizing stage as a fore bath of the final stage if the final stage is a washing stage and rinsing stage are included as well and the liquid is used as the final bath.
