Abstract:
To obtain the subject composition capable of suppressing formation of formic acid, excellent in inhibitory effect on this formation and safety, containing a specific chelate compound.
This aqueous solution composition of formaldehyde contains (A) a chelate compound in an amount of ≥0.00004 as much as (B) formaldehyde. The component A is preferably an amine compound containing plural carboxyl groups at the end, especially an ethylenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid of formula I (R+ is a hydrogen ion, an alkali metal ion or an ammonium ion) or its salt or a diethylenetriamine-N,N,N',N",N"-pentaacetic acid of formula II or its salt.
