Abstract:
PURPOSE: A stabilizer having a maximum absorption within a specific range of wavelength is added to sodium nitroprusside used as a hypostensor by intravenous dripping to improve the stability to light of its aqueous solution.
CONSTITUTION: To sodium nitroprusside, is added more than 0.001mM/50mg of sodium nitroprusside, of a stabilizer having a maximum absorption within the range of from 300W500nm, such as adrenochrome, folic acid, flavine-adenine dinucleotide, sodium flavin phosphate, cytochrome C and/or vitamin B12, preferably adrenochrome. When necessary, this mixture is dissolved in distilled water for injection or this solution is freeze dried under vacuum into a powder to give a nitroprusside sodium composition stable to light.
