Title:
STABILIZING MEMBER FOR SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03101011
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a kind of stabilizing member for a superconducting wire, having a great strength, high residual resistance ratio, light weight and excellence in performance, by making up the stabilizing member of a compound material having ceramic whiskers dispersed in high-purity aluminum.

CONSTITUTION: For a ceramic whisker is used any material selected from an Al2O3 whisker, a SiC whisker, a TiB2 whisker, etc. Since each of these ceramic whiskers never dissolves in high-purity aluminum, is fibriform and has its great strength, any of them can be dispersed in the high-purity aluminum to heighten its mechanical strength without so much lowering the residual resistance ratio of the high-purity aluminum. A stabilizing member for a superconducting wire can thus be obtained with its great strength, high residual resistance ratio, light weight and high performance.
