PURPOSE: To stabilize a high solids polymer composition obtained by emulsion polymerization against settlement and separation during storage by using an effective amount of a lauryl (meth)acrylate polymer or lauryl (meth)acrylate/ carboxylic acid polymer.

CONSTITUTION: To (A) a high solids polymer composition obtained by an emulsion polymerization process and containing more than about 50 wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition, polymer solids, (B) an effective amount, desirably, about 0.05 wt.% based on the weight of component A, alkyl (meth) acrylate or alkyl (meth)acrylate/carboxylic acid polymer is added to stabilize component A. Component B is desirably, for example, a 4-20C linear or branched alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, a polymerizable carboxylic acid monomer, desirably (meth)acrylic acid, or the like.
