PURPOSE: To improve precision of stop positioning by smoothly guiding a lift body to lift up and down by way of installing the lift body so that the rotary direction of a lift chain lifting up and down becomes rectangular against the running direction.
CONSTITUTION: A carriage structure part 21 of a stacker crane 20 has a running system to rotationally drive a running wheel 22, a lift chain 27 is hooked on a sprocket set on the upper and lower edges of a post 23 in an endless state, a lift body 30 is fit on this chain 27 and a lift device 40, the post 23 and a control panel 25 are set on the carriage structure part 21. The running wheel 22 runs on a running rail 14. When the stacker crane 20 runs and moves along the running rail 14, the post 23 rocks against the running direction. At this time, the lift chain 27, in the case when the lift body lifts and moves, does not cause variation force on the tension side and the loose side regardless of the rocking of the post 23. Accordingly, in the stop motion in the lift direction, drive torque of a motor of the lift device 40 becomes constant, and the accuracy of stop positioning improves.
