This stair handrail mounting unit includes an arrangement member 11 constituted to extend and contract freely and fixed on an upper face of the tread by making the direction of extension and contraction parallel with the direction of depth of the tread S on stairs, a pair of support columns 13a, 13b erected while being separated from each other in the direction of extension and contraction and having lower end parts supported to have erected attitude by the arrangement member 11, and a handrail body supporting member 14 stretched on upper end parts of the pair of support columns 13a, 13b and supporting a handrail body 15 by inclination α corresponding to distance L between the pair of the separated support columns 13a and 13b.
