PURPOSE: To make improvements in durability and salability by forming an inner circumferential part of a sliding support surface leading from a clutch inner part of a pinion moving cylinder, into a large diameter, setting up a bearing hereat, and making it support the pinion moving cylinder, while setting up a seal member in front of this bearing.
CONSTITUTION: An overrunning clutch device 7 is set up in an extension shaft part 3, projecting outerward from an opening 2 formed in a front frame 1 of a starter motor 20, installed in an armature turning shaft 21a of a DC motor 21, adjacently to this motor 21. A front end of a pinion moving cylinder 22, where a clutch inner 7b of this clutch device 7 is solidly formed in the rear end, is set down to a pinion 22a. And, an inner circumferential part ranging from the clutch inner 7b in this pinion moving cylinder 22 to a sliding support surface 22b, is formed into a large diameter, forming a relatively large clearance part 26 in a gap with the extension shaft part 3, and a bearing 27, supporting the moving cylinder 22 on the extension shaft part, is set up in this clearance part 26, while a seal member 29 is set up at the more front side than this bearing 27.
