A surface type commutator arranging a plural number of segments insulated from each other so as to be roughly orthogonal with a shaft is provided on a rear end side of an armature, and brushes 20, 21 make contact with this commutator from a backward side in the axial direction. The brushes 20, 21 consist of positive electrode brushes 20 and negative electrode brushes 21, and they are respectively held on brush holding bodies 23, 24. These brush holding bodies 23, 24 are constituted of box type storage parts to store the brushes 20, 21 free to slide in the axial direction and base parts 23b, 24b integrally provided with these storage parts. These base parts 23b, 24b are provided by extending in a flat plate shape in the circumferential direction by facing straight against the commutator on side end parts of the commutators of the storage parts.
