Title:
STARTING METHOD FOR BRUSHLESS DYNAMO-ELECTRIC MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003189672
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a starting method for a brushless dynamo-electric machine that can obtain a large starting torque even when a rotor position detecting element is not used, and which can effect, reliably or with a high probability, normal rotation when a forced commutation is performed.

The starting control for the engine generator is performed as follows: in steps S1, S2, a first and second initial excitation are performed in order to displace the rotor to a prescribed position that can obtain the maximum torque through forced commutation from a state wherein the generator has freely stopped rotating, and further to displace the rotor to a position where the relative rotor-stator positions will effect normal rotation. In step S3, forced commutation, in other words applying current to a single phase from the relative rotor-stator positions that can obtain the maximum torque after completion of the second initial excitation, is performed. Through forced commutation, induced voltage is detected from a non-current carrying phase, and the rotor position is detected based on this induced voltage. Next, the method proceeds to step S4, where normal current application is performed.
