PURPOSE: To enable the coaxial disposition of a displacement sensor to a hollow spindle and heighten the detecting accuracy of displacement by thrust of the spindle.
CONSTITUTION: A contactless displacement sensor 20 of hollow cylindrical shape for detecting the displacement by thrust of a spindle 2 is disposed in a position coaxial with the spindle 2 and opposed to the rear end face of the thrust plate 5 provided at the spindle 2. The tip of a push rod 12 for moving a collet chuck 9 longitudinally pierces the hollow part of the contactless displacement sensor 20 so as to be inserted into the through hole 2a of the spindle 2. The contactless displacement sensor 20 is an eddy current type sensor formed of a cylindrical sensor core 20a formed of insulating material such as synthetic resin material, and a coil 20b formed of conductive material and mounted to the outer diameter of the sensor core 20a.
