PURPOSE: To enable continuous voltage regulation instantaneously by a small capacity voltage regulator circuit against a sudden voltage fluctuation.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage regulator is provided with a series transformer 40 the secondary winding of which is inserted in series between a power supply 10 and load 20, an adjusting transformer 30 installed on the power supply side of the series transformer 40, and a voltage adjusting circuit 50 to apply the output of the adjusting transformer 30 to the primary winding of the series transformer 40 as compensation voltage. The adjusting transformer 30 comprises a booster circuit 31 to boost a power supply voltage and voltage supply circuit 32 to supply the output voltage of the booster circuit 31 to the primary winding of the series transformer as a compensation voltage. A voltage detector 70 to detect the load voltage of a line is connected to a voltage adjusting circuit 50. Based on a detected voltage from the voltage detector 70, the voltage adjusting circuit 50 is controlled to stabilize voltage.
