To provide a steam iron which can secure the specified performance stably regardless of how the users operate while enabling the generation of an increment of steam continuously for a specified space of time.
The steam iron is provided with a base 3 to be heated by a heater 2, a vaporizing chamber 6 for generating steam provided on the base 3, a water tank 4 into which is stored the water to be supplied to the vaporizing chamber 6, a pump device 17 for supplying the water in the water tank 4 to the vaporizing chamber 6, an operating part 21 for actuating the pump device 17, a piston 19 driven by the operating part 21 and a link part 22 for linking the piston 19 to the operating part 21. The operating part 21 is rotatably fixed at one end of the link part 22 and the piston 19 at the other end of the operating part 21 and a pivot 23 of the link part 22 is provided between the operating part 21 and the rotary fixed end of the piston 19.
