PURPOSE: To easily prepare the subject cake having unique shape, taste and flavor by filling an edible content into a vessel shaped steamed edible base having an opening at a part and closing the opening with a transparent edible layer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective cake can be prepared e.g. by pouring the dough 2a for a vessel shaped edible base 2 [e.g. dough for KARUKAN (sweetened jelly of yam and rice flour) composed of frozen yam, granulated sugar, KARUKAN powder and water] with a filling machine 12 into a forming recess 11 of a baking plate 10. When the recess is transferred under the next filling machine 13, an edible content 3 (e.g. bean jam) is poured with the filling machine 13 and the recess is transferred to the next filling machine 14. A slightly moistened transparent powdery edible material 4a (produced by adding water to arrowroot powder and granulated sugar and heating the mixture) for forming a transparent edible layer 4 is scattered from the filling machine 14 on the edible base and steamed in a steaming pot to prepare the objective cake.
