To improve sheet thickness precision and strip shape by providing a heating means, which prevents temp. lowering by heating the inside of a furnace coiler and heating a strip coil from strip width edge faces, and recovering the temp. of a strip edge part in a short time thereby uniformizing the temp thereof in the strop width direction.
Flame released from a side burner 18 of a furnace coiler 2 is spread along a furnace side wall in an eddy shape and uniformly heats both edge faces in the strip width direction, most of a discharge gas is discharged from a chimney 20 and part of a furnace gas is blown out from an opening part for strip. The strip is heated from both ends to prevent temp. lowering, the temp. recovery is done in a short time. A furnace body can reduce its size by reducing a space between an outer diameter of a coil 19 and a furnace coiler 2 inner wall. By this method, an interval between a hot rolling mill and a furnace coiler 2 can be reduced to make an equipment compact.
