Abstract:
To cause no usual damage to column beam connections by welding a steel frame column to a steel frame beam without providing a scallop ranging from the steel frame beam to the steel frame column so that great force arising from earthquake is not localized on a web.
A gusset plate 15 welded to gusset connections 12, 13, where diaphragms 4, 5 are protruded to the steel frame beam 2 side is bolted through gusset connections 12, 13 to a web 10 on the steel frame beam 2 side. An upper flange 6 to which a backing plate metal 20 is applied from downward is welded to the upper gusset connection 12, while a lower flange 7 to which a backing plate metal 21 is applied from downward is welded to the lower gusset connection 13.
