Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress the shortening of the service life of a straight motion guide device in an environment in which foreign matter is intruded in the contaact part to a minimum by specifying the chemical componental compsn. of a steel.
CONSTITUTION: In a straight motion guide device conveying articles placed on a moving block 14 provided on a track stand 12 by moving the moving block 14, the track stand 12 and/or the moving block 14 is constituted of the following steel. This steel contains, by weight, 0.50 to 0.65% C, ≤0.35% Si, 1.30 to 1.70% Mn, ≤0.030% P, ≤0.030% S, ≤0.30% Cu, 0.80 to 1.20% Ni, 0.10 to 0.50% Cr, ≤0.10% Mo, ≤0.0020% O, and the balance Fe. The steel is stable in retained austenite, and thererfore, even if foreign matter is intruded into the space between a ball 18 and a rail or between the ball 18 and the moving block 14, the working transformation of the retained austenite into martensite can be suppressed, by which the device can be used with high precision over a long period.
