Abstract:
To reduce the residual amount of a lubricant after wire drawing without lowering wire drawability by forming the film of zinc phosphate on the surface of a steel wire before wire drawing and using slaked lime in its upper layer as a rust preventive.
In the steel wire before wire drawing on the surface of which the film of zinc phosphate is stuck and in which the rust preventive is applied on the film, the deposit of the film of zinc phosphate is 5 to 9 g/m2 and the average crystal grain size of the zinc phosphate is ≤150 μm. Furthermore, the slaked lime of 0.5 to 2.0 g/m2 is applied as the rust preventive.
