Title:
STEEL WIRE ROD GALVANIZING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55107765
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide superior workability and surface properties to a steel wire rod by adding a specified amt. of Al to a molten Zn bath using a flux contg. ZnCl2 or the like for pretreatment and galvanizing the rod at a restricted bath temp.

CONSTITUTION: Al 0.02W0.07% is added to a molten Zn bath using a flux cotg. ZnCl2, NH4Cl or the like for pretreatment, and a steel wire rod is galvanized at a bath temp. of 470°C or below. The Pb content of the bath is pref. adjusted to 0.1% or less. Pb>0.1% forms spangles when the rod pulled out of the bath is cooled, resulting in uneven brightness on the rod surface. By this method a galvanized steel wire is obtd. having superior electric conductivity, high film workability and a high fatigue limit.
