Title:
STEERING BOOT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005315364
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a steering boot having no fear that a valley part is caught in a socket of a ball joint to be broken when the steering boot exposed to a high temperature atmosphere is subjected to bending deformation at its bellows part due to rocking of a tie rod.

This steering boot includes: a bellows part 11 where annular crest parts and valley parts 112 are formed alternately; a first fitting part 12 formed at one end of the bellows part 11 and fixed sealingly to the outer peripheral surface of a rack housing; and a second fitting part 13 formed at the other end of the bellows part 11 and fixed sealingly to the outer peripheral surface of the tie rod. The bellows part 11 is relatively thinner at the part 11A on the outer periphery side of a ball joint as a connecting part of the steering rack and the tie rod than the other parts 11B, 11C, and the radii of the crest parts 111 and valley parts 112 are gradually decreased as it goes from the end on the first fitting part 12 side to the end on the second fitting part 13 side.
