To provide a steering controller giving good end touching feeling to a driver through a steering wheel during turning it for steer-by-wire control.
This steering controller can mechanically disconnect a steering section having the steering wheel 6 and a reaction motor 5 from a steering turn section having a steering control wheel 16 and a turning motor 14. It includes a turning torque control function which outputs to the turning motor 14 a control command for enabling the turning torque in accordance with a steering state for the steering wheel 6, a steering reaction control function which outputs to the reaction motor 5 a control command for enabling a steering reaction torque to the steering section in accordance with a turning state of the steering control wheel 16, and an edge hit control function which controls to give the end touching feeling to the driver through the steering wheel 6 on reaching around a steering turning limit when turning the steering wheel during the steer-by-wire control state. When a turning angle of the steering control wheel 16 reaches a neighborhood of the maximum turning angle, the end touching control starts correction of the amount of the steering reaction torque, and gradually increases the steering reaction torque in accordance with a time elapsed since the start of the correction.
