Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve maneuverability by reducing the delay in response for steering angle when gain is being increased in a device wherein steering response characteristics including gain are modified to meet required steering properties of a vehicle, and the vehicle is steered by use of a steering angle corresponding to gain having been set. CONSTITUTION:When front wheels 1 are steered by a steering handle 3, let a controller 17 operate a proportion constant for front and rear wheels and a differential constant for front and rear wheels corresponding to vehicle speeds based on outputs from a steering angle sensor 15, a vehicle speed sensor 16 and a mode selector 40, and a gain modification factor corresponding to a selected mode is concurrently obtained. In the second place, increment in the gain modification factor, that is, a time constant which is made small as gain is increased is computed based on the gain modification factor obtained as set forth herein above in such a way that the delay in response for steering angle is reduced when gain is increased. After then, target auxiliary steering angles for front and rear wheels are obtained by specified formulas so that each electromagnetic spool valve 12 is controlled via each amplifier 18 and 35 for controlling the steering angle of front and rear wheels with each actuator 11 and 26 driven.
