PURPOSE: To reduce a space for mounting a steering angle sensor and decrease the diametrical protruding dimension of a steering rack by mounting a cable taking-out part extending in the diametrical direction of a through hole and a diametrical outward flange onto the steering angle sensor.
CONSTITUTION: A steering angle sensor 11 of dial gauge structure is provided with a sensor rod 15 which can be displaced in the axial direction and is always forced by a spring in the protruding direction. The sensor rod 15 is passed through a through hole 7a formed at a rack guide 7 and its end is brought into contact with the bottom of an inclined groove 4b formed at a steering rack 4, by which axial displacement of the steering rack 4 is converted into axial displacement of the sensor rod 15. The axial displacement of the sensor rod 15 is detected by the steering angle sensor 11, and to take out the signal of the steering angle sensor 11, a connector part 17 to which a cable 16 is connected is mounted onto the side surface ranging from the flange 12 to the outside part of the steering angle sensor 11.
