To provide a stencil printer which can make the most of the potential of a color scanner even though the stencil printer has a monochrome based imaging engine and is mounted with a color scanner.

The stencil printer includes: an area analyzer 21 for extracting the location of area specifying marks for each color from the color marker image data produced by a document reader 110 after reading a sheet-like medium 15 of a substantially same size with the original document in which the area specifying marks are depicted with color markers; a color separation specification receiver 4 for receiving an arbitrary correspondence between the color tones of color markers and the color tones of the inks of the print drums 101; and a color separator 22 for classifying the areas of the original data specified by the location information for each color, into print drums 101 of a color tone which the color separation specification receiver 4 has received by corresponding to the tone of color markers.
