Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient stepping motor with an integrated brake which is actuated when the stepping motor is powered off using a simple control circuit.SOLUTION: A stepping motor has a rotor with permanent magnet rotor poles; a stator with a stator winding with at least 2 phases; and an electro-magnetic brake electrically connected to the phases of the stator winding and arranged to be released when at least one of the phases is energized.
