To provide a method for bending plate glass, e.g. into a sphere, by moving a plate glass stepwise in a bending station, wherein the plate glass is carried by a cloth carrier arranged on a rigid support frame in such a way to show elasticity, and by bending the plate glass together with the cloth carrier which fits the glass shape.

This method (A) moves a plate glass 1, kept at a given temperature and held by a suction plate 3, onto a cloth piece 31 of cloth carrier in an initial bending station 10, (B) moves a lower bending mold 12 upward and keeps the inside under a vacuum, to press the plate glass 1 and cloth piece 31 to the concave mold surface 14, (C) keeps a positive pressure in the mold 12, after releasing vacuum, to free itself from the cloth piece 31, (D) moves the mold 12 downward, and also moves a support frame 30 together with the bending-processed plate glass 1 into a final bending station 20, and (E) places the support frame 30 at a given position, and simultaneously moves a lower, concave, bending mold 22 and upper, convex bending mold 24, to press the plate glass 1 into a final shape.
