Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an optimum stereophonic processing means depending on the performance of a processing unit in use, in the case of generating a stereophonic sound aiming at the reproduction by a multimedia personal computer or an audio peripheral equipment. SOLUTION: A stereophonic processing system, that uses a headphone and a loudspeaker or the like for localizing a sound image at an optional position, is provided with a processing means that produces a stereophonic sound from an input signal. Further, the processing means has a plurality of stereophonic filter means 21, 22 consisting of FIR filters and a selection means that selects a stereophonic filter means depending on a desired factor, wherein the processing means generates a stereophonic sound, based on the processing result received from the selected stereophonic filter means, while controlling the selected stereophonic filter means.
