To provide a stereoscopic image display device capable of reducing crosstalk caused by reflection of light radiated from a light source on the back of a transmission type liquid crystal display panel, while achieving downsizing.
The image display device 3 includes: the transmission type liquid crystal display panel 9; a reflection unit 17 equipped with an elliptical mirror 21 constituted of a portion of an arc of an ellipse and a parabolic mirror 23 constituted of a portion of an arc of a parabola and having a focus of the parabola aligned with a focus of the ellipse; a first light source 33 installed on the parabolic mirror 23 side and emitting light; and a shielding body 39 intercepting the light. Since the first light source 33 is installed on the parabolic mirror 23 side, depth of the image display device 3 is made short, so that the stereoscopic image device is made compact. Since the light reflected on the back of the transmission type liquid crystal display panel 9 that is the cause of crosstalk is intercepted by the shielding body 39, the crosstalk is suppressed.
