PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display device for adjusting a stereoscopic image whose parallax amount suddenly changes based on parallax characteristics of respective observers on stereoscopic vision.SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display device includes: a parallax adjustment amount condition setting portion 4 measuring the parallax characteristic including a separated start parallax and a merged start parallax of the observer by using an evaluation image, storing parallax characteristic data including a measurement result at every observer, an observer condition and a measuring environment condition and setting a parallax adjustment amount condition based on the parallax characteristic data of the observer; an image parallax calculating portion 1 calculating an image parallax amount from an inputted stereoscopic video; a parallax change amount calculating portion 2 calculating a parallax change amount between frames based on the image parallax amount calculated by the image parallax calculating portion; a parallax adjustment amount calculating portion 3 calculating a parallax adjustment amount from the parallax adjustment amount condition and the parallax change amount; an image generating portion 20 adjusting the parallax of the stereoscopic video, which is inputted based on the parallax adjustment amount; and a display portion 100 displaying the video adjusted by the image generating portion.
