The light emitted from a back light 1 is deflected through apertures HR having centers at the prescribed position with respect to the optical axes of respective cylindrical lenses constituting a lenticular lens sheet 3 on a mask 2, is condensed to the linear from perpendicular to the region corresponding to the observer's right eye ER and is made incident on the right eye ER. The luminous fluxed thereof are modulated by the right stripe pixels R1 displayed on the display device 4 and the right stripe pixels R1 are observed by the right eye ER. The transmitted luminous fluxes past the apertures HL of the mask 2 with respect to the section corresponding to the scanning line under one signal line are deflected by the lenticular lens sheet 3 and further modulated by the left strip pixels L2 displayed on the display device 4. These luminous fluxed are condensed to the linear form perpendicular to the region corresponding to the position of the left eye EL are made incident on the left eye EL.
