CONSTITUTION: In the stereoscopic image pickup device having one set each of right eye and left eye use image pickup sections each provided with a focus lens 3, 12, a liquid prism 1, 10 is arranged to the light incidence side of the focus lens 3, 12 of the right (left) eye use image pickup section, a distance from the focus lens 3, 12 to an object is calculated by a microcomputer 19 based on a step number of a stepping motors driving the focus lens 3, 12 and the convergence angle is controlled by setting a control angle of the liquid prisms 1,10 depending on the distance.
