Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a stimulable phosphor composition which can realize a fluorescent lamp reduced in color difference at tube ends and excelling in luminance by mixing a green emitting stimulable phosphor with a blue emitting stimulable phosphor and a red emitting stimulable phosphor so that the difference between the liquid holding rates of any pair of them falls within a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is one essentially consisting of a green emitting stimulable phosphor, a blue emitting stimulable phosphor and a red emitting stimulable phosphor, and the difference between the liquid holding rate of any desired pair of them falls within ±10%. The liquid holding rate is defined by the equation: liquid holding rate = the amount of a liquid added/the surface area of a stimulable phosphor (wherein the amount of a liquid added refers to the minimum amount of a liquid necessary to wet the entire surface of a stimulable phosphor having a known surface area when the liquid is added to a specified amount of the phosphor). In this composition, the wettabilities of the respective phosphors can be approached to each other, so that the composition can be uniformly applied in the form of a phosphor vehicle in the step of applying it to a vertically held glass tube.
