PURPOSE: To control the swing of a control cable effectively so as to prevent burnout accidents by providing a guide machine for constraining the horizontal movement of the lower part of the control cable and straddling it to a cage lower side trailing part and an elevating path side trailing part, thus guiding the insertion/removal of the control cable into/out of a cable duct.

CONSTITUTION: A cable duct 5 out of which a control cable 3 is detachable is vertically disposed at an elevating path wall 4a, and a guide machine 14 is suspended between a cage and the trailing bottom end part 3a by a wire rope 15 to straddle the control cable 3 to a cage lower side trailing part 3b and an elevating path side trailing part 3c while constraining the horizontal movement of its lower part, thus guiding it into/out of the cable duct 5. The control cable 3 is thereby inhibited from leaping out of the cable duct, and even in case of leaping out, the control cable is inserted again and suppressed in its swing effectively. The control cable 3 is further prevented from being caught by various apparatus in the elevating path, thus preventing burnout accidents.
