Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel/hydrogen storage battery having a positive electrode of nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode of a hydrogen absorbing alloy and an electrolyte, which battery provides a high capacity by enhancing the charging acceptability of the positive electrode and suppressing the oxygen generation from the positive electrode even on the deep charging, and to provide a high discharge capacity even on the large current discharge by sufficiently raising the discharge characteristic of the negative electrode.
SOLUTION: In the nickel/hydrogen storage battery having the positive electrode 1 of nickel hydroxide, a negative electrode 2 of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and the electrolyte, a hydroxide and/or an oxide of at least one element selected from the group consisting of calcium, strontium, scandium, yttrium, lanthanoids and bismuth is added to the positive electrode, and gerumanium is added to the negative electrode.
