A storage container 7 is used for storing in connection with supplying the liquid to a drink preparation machine such as a coffee machine, where an operation is performed in a closed state of a top serving opening 11 for removing liquid needed for preparation from the container 7. The container 7 has a pivotable handle 8 connected thereto for carrying the container 7. The handle 8 has a closure body 15 for closing the serving opening 11. When the handle 8 is not in use, the handle 8 is disposed on the container 7 in a manner capable of pivoting and the closure body 15 is disposed on the handle 8, such that in the folded-down position of the handle 8 to a carrying function, the serving opening 11 is closed by the closure body 15.
